Twenty people were hospitalized, three with severe injuries, after a bus overturned in the San Bernardino Mountains southwest of Running Springs on Sunday night, Nov. 9, authorities said.

Fire officials said 36 people were on board, including the driver, when the bus overturned. The passengers included a mix of adults and teenagers. Those who weren’t hospitalized had minor injuries or didn’t report any injuries, fire officials said.
Roads were dry and winds were minimal when the bus overturned, said Ryan Beckers, a spokesperson with the Fire Department. The bus was traveling downhill on its way back to Orange County from a camp near Angelus Oaks, Beckers said.
Caltrans closed Highway 330 in the area at the request of the California Highway Patrol.
Agencies responding included the San Bernardino National Forest, American Medical Response, Cal Fire and fire departments for Big Bear, Running Springs and Arrowbear.
This is a developing story and no further details were immediately available. Officials have not yet shared what may have caused the bus to overturn.
