Air quality in Tashkent and Andijan has worsened significantly, with fine particulate matter (PM2.5) levels rising far above safety thresholds as of 9:00 a.m. on November 11, 2025, according to data from automatic monitoring stations. Authorities have urged residents to limit outdoor activities and wear protective masks.

According to the Center of Hydrometeorological Service (Uzhydromet), air pollution levels in Tashkent have reached:
PM10: 189 µg/m³ (within the permissible limit of 300 µg/m³)
PM2.5: 143 µg/m³ – 2.4 times higher than the hourly limit of 60 µg/m³

In Andijan, the readings were even higher:
PM10: 502 µg/m³ – about twice the permissible hourly limit
PM2.5: 314 µg/m³ – 8.9 times higher than the acceptable level

Experts note that the elevated PM2.5 concentration poses serious health risks, particularly to vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, pregnant women, and individuals with cardiovascular or respiratory conditions.

Recommended precautions
Authorities advise residents to wear masks with R2/R3 (N95/N99) filters instead of standard medical masks, avoid outdoor exercise or prolonged walks, and keep windows and doors closed. It is also recommended to humidify indoor air and use air purifiers with functioning filters. Those experiencing worsening symptoms are urged to seek medical attention immediately.
