The US on Thursday released a video detailing the first "100 hours" of Operation Epic Fury. The video - posted on X by the US Central Command - shows the scale of the US-Israeli joint military campaign against Iran. The operation - which has now entered its sixth day - was launched on February 28 by the US with the goal of dismantling Iran's nuclear and security infrastructure. On the first day of strikes, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed, along with several other senior figures, triggering retaliation by Tehran.
According to latest estimates, over 1000 people have been killed in Iran, over 70 in Lebanon, and around a dozen in Israel since the escalation began. CENTCOM said that within the first four days alone, more than 2000 strikes were conducted using 2000 precision-guided munitions launched from air, land and sea.
The command also stated that Iran's military capabilities had suffered major damage. More than 20 Iranian vessels have been sunk, as per the CENTCOM, while Iranian drone launches have fallen 73 percent and ballistic missile launches have gone down 86 percent since the launch of the operation. It added that the US is continuing to push deeper into the Iranian airspace.
Describing the campaign as "the most lethal, most complex, and most precise aerial operation in history", the video states: "Our military in the Middle East is undertaking an unprecedented operation to eliminate Iran's ability to threaten Americans, as they have been doing for nearly half a century. We didn't start this war, but under President Trump, we are finishing it. Combat operations continue at this time in full force, and they will continue until all of our objectives are achieved."
CENTCOM also rejected several Iranian claims, calling them "fake news". Iran had alleged that US forces were pulling back from the region, and had lost fighter jets as well as a destroyer. Tehran also claimed that around 100 US Marines had been killed. "ALL LIES," CENTCOM said.
Meanwhile, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth is expected to visit US Central Command headquarters at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida, on Thursday. He will meet CENTCOM Commander Adm. Brad Cooper and receive updates on the ongoing operation.
US President Donald Trump also lauded the military forces, saying Washington held a commanding position after the latest round of strikes. "We're doing very well on the war front, to put it mildly," he said. "Somebody said on a scale of 10, where would you rate it? I said about a 15."
He added that Iran's missile capabilities had been significantly weakened after the operation. "Their missiles are being wiped out rapidly. Their launchers are being wiped out," he said. He further said, "That was a tremendous threat to us for many years. For 47 years they have been killing our people and killing people from all over the world. We're in a very strong position now. It's a great display of military strength."
