Three people have been injured after a building collapsed in Oldham town centre. Police, paramedics and firefighters are all working at the scene on King Street this afternoon (March 24), where people have been urged to avoid the area.Crowds of people have been seen watching on from beyond the cordon, which stretches from Union Street to Manchester Street. Greater Manchester Police says three people were injured after a building partially collapsed.Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing. Five people in total were able to escape the building before firefighters arrived, according to Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS).A GMP spokesperson said: "We are currently responding to a partial building collapse on King Street, Oldham. Officers are on scene with other emergency services working together to ensure the safety of the public."Three people have injuries that are not deemed to be life-threatening or life-changing. A number of road closures are in place and we would ask people avoid the area where possible. Thanks for your patience."A GMFRS spokesperson added: "At around 12.40pm this afternoon (Tuesday, March 24), three fire engines from across Greater Manchester were called to an incident involving a collapsed building on King Street, Oldham. Firefighters are working alongside GMP and North West Ambulance Service to make the area safe."Five people self-evacuated from the building before fire service arrival. Crews remain in attendance at this time."
