As reported by the "Caucasian Knot," homes in the capital of Dagestan were flooded, damaging appliances, furniture, and cars. Residents complained of problems with electricity and water supplies, as well as transportation accessibility. They also complained of difficulty reaching emergency services. Rain and strong winds caused power outages in Dagestan, leaving more than 327,000 residents in 283 communities without power. A state of high alert has been declared in the republic, and a state of emergency has been declared in Makhachkala.
On March 29, Makhachkala authorities reported on the "interim results of the emergency response" on their Telegram channel.
According to the city administration, three temporary accommodation centers are currently in operation for affected citizens: the Bizo Hotel (47 people are staying there), the dormitory of the Finance and Economics College (21 people), and the Turist Hotel (16 people).
The worst-hit areas of the city include the Akushinsky Avenue area, the Reduktorny settlement, the Palmira and Turali microdistricts, and the villages of Novy Khushet and Novy Kyakhulai.
The water at the Makhachkala-110 substation has been pumped out, and power has been restored. The area at the Vostochnaya substation has also been "dried out," but partial service interruptions remain due to the flooding. Water pumping continues at the Primorskaya substation.
Flooding has been eliminated at 12 schools and eight kindergartens. Flooding relief efforts continue at three schools and four kindergartens.
