At least 17 children have been admitted to the isolation ward of the 250-bed General Hospital in Gopalganj in the past 24 hours with symptoms of measles.
The admissions took place between 9:00 am on Thursday and 9:00 am on Friday. As of 1:00 pm on Friday, a total of 19 children with suspected measles are undergoing treatment in the hospital’s 20-bed isolation ward. Among them, 18 are in the ward and one is being treated in a cabin.
Hospital Superintendent Dr Jibitesh Biswas confirmed the information. He said that 35 samples have so far been collected and sent to Dhaka for testing. Of these, results for eight samples have been received, with six children testing positive for measles. All infected children are currently in stable condition, and no deaths have been reported at the hospital due to measles symptoms.
