A woman was fatally shot by a police officer early Monday morning in Northfield, New Hampshire, authorities said.
Officers were responding to a report of a domestic disturbance at a private residence when the shooting occurred, New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella said in a statement.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials have not released the woman’s identity, pending notification of her family, Formella said. An autopsy is scheduled through the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The name of the officer who shot the woman was also not released.
“There is no known threat to the public at this time, and more information will be released as it becomes available,” the statement said.
The Northfield shooting marked the third use of deadly force by police in New England since Saturday.
On Saturday in Boston, officers fatally shot a man experiencing a mental health crisis in an apartment building near Northeastern University. The man, who hasn’t been publicly identified, was attacking responders with a sword at the time of the shooting, police said.
Also on Saturday, in New Hampshire, authorities said 38-year-old Matthew J. Masse, of Raymond, shot and wounded a police officer before fleeing into the woods. After an hours-long search, Masse was located later that night, and a second encounter with police ended in a gunfire exchange in which he was killed.
