A landslide disaster hit eight houses of residents located in the Sembahe area, Sibolangit District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra, on Tuesday, April 7 evening. Five residents were found dead buried under the landslide material and one resident was found in a safe condition.
The joint SAR team consisting of Basarnas Medan, BPBD Deli Serdang Regency, Brimob Polda Sumatera along with a volunteer team who conducted a search using heavy equipment since last night managed to find one by one the residents who were buried by the landslide material.
Finally, one landslide victim was found by the joint SAR team on Wednesday morning at 06.40 WIB. All the victims who were found were immediately evacuated to Pancur Batu Hospital, Deli Serdang. There were a total of five victims out of six people who were reported to have died. Meanwhile, another victim was found in a safe condition.
The five victims who died were named, Gobal (39), Rizki Sembiring (14), Boy Simorangkir (48), Jamilah Ginting (49) and Rosilawati Ginting (48). Meanwhile, the survivor was named Sehat Tarigan (70).
Head of Basarnas Medan, Hery Marantika, said that this landslide occurred on Tuesday, April 7 at 21.30 WIB in the evening, when the Sembahe Village area was being hit by heavy rain.
"The landslide hit eight houses, there were allegedly six victims. At 02.00 WIB we have carried out an initial search assessment and we have found six survivors. However, the last five people we found were dead and we have evacuated them to Pancur Batu Hospital, Deli Serdang Regency," said Hery.
In addition to swallowing human lives, this landslide disaster also damaged eight houses of residents. Now the joint SAR team is still carrying out sterilization efforts at the landslide location, because there is a landslide crown that is feared to cause a follow-up landslide.
Meanwhile, the North Sumatra Regional Police's Dansat Brimob, Kombes Pol Rantau Isnur Eka, said that to clean up the material and sterilize the landslide location and help residents find items belonging to residents, his party and other joint teams deployed as many as 200 personnel.
