Chak No.126 SB, Sillanwali Tehsil, Sargodha District, Punjab Province

An illegal toxic water dam in Chak No.126 SB allegedly constructed with collusion between influential leaseholders and Mines Department officials, collapsed overnight, destroying hundreds of acres of crops, inundating homes, and killing livestock.
The breach released a torrent of hazardous hill water that flooded residential areas, turned fertile fields barren, and polluted local canals, rendering water unfit for irrigation.
Residents said that the dam, built on government land with weak embankments had repeatedly been flagged as dangerous but no preventive action was taken.
Affected farmers and villagers expressed anger at the Mines and Irrigation Departments, appealing to Punjab Chief Minister(CM),Maryam Nawaz Sharif to take immediate notice, citing parallels with the Bhati Gate tragedy.
They demanded action against the leaseholders and strict departmental accountability for officials involved in the alleged collusion.
The victims also called for the formation of an independent inquiry or judicial commission to investigate recurring failures. They warned of protests outside the Lahore Press Club,Commissioner’s Office and Chief Minister’s Secretariat if their grievances were not addressed, adding that they possess video evidence of the devastation to be presented in legal and administrative forums.
