Five people, including two children, were seriously injured in an explosion during the repair of a gas pipeline in 64-P Block, officials said.According to details, residents of the house had complained to the landlord about a gas leakage. Private technicians were called to inspect and repair the supply line installed in the house. During the checking process, the workers allegedly attempted to detect the leakage by lighting a matchstick without shutting the main valve, which triggered an explosion due to accumulated gas and set the house on fire.As a result, two technicians — 25-year-old Ali Raza of 49-KB and Ameenullah of P Block — along with their associate, 15-year-old Hammad Raza of 447-EB, sustained severe burn injuries. Two minor children of the tenants, two-year-old Zahra and three-year-old Naila, residents of P Block Burewala, were also badly burnt. The injured were shifted to THQ Hospital for the first aid and later referred to the burns unit in Sahiwal for further treatment.
