Heat wave

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a heatwave alert for Karachi and several districts of Sindh. The warning comes as temperatures are expected to rise sharply over the coming days. Officials say conditions will remain hot, dry, and increasingly severe.According to the PMD, Karachi’s temperature may reach 41°C on Monday. On Sunday, it could climb up to 40°C, while Saturday may also see extreme conditions. The “feels-like” temperature could surge as high as 50°C due to humidity.Meteorologists reported that recent temperatures are already 2°C to 4°C above normal levels. This indicates an early and intense onset of summer conditions. Humidity is also expected to remain high, worsening heat stress in urban areas.
The PMD warned that several districts in central and upper Sindh will also face extreme heat. Areas including Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, and Khairpur may experience temperatures 3°C to 5°C above normal. Strong winds and dust storms are also expected in some regions.Authorities have advised citizens to avoid direct sunlight during peak hours and increase water intake. Vulnerable groups, including children, women, and the elderly, have been urged to take extra precautions. Farmers and livestock owners have also been advised to adjust activities according to weather conditions.
