The police are still investigating the fire that hit the Bulungan Regent's Office Building, North Kalimantan (Kaltara) on Jelarai Raya Street, Tanjung Selor Hilir Village, Tanjung Selor District on Wednesday (20/5) evening.
Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Bulungan Police, AKP Rio Adi Pratama, said the investigation process is still ongoing.
"It is still in the process of investigation, until now the exact cause of the fire has not been determined," he said, Thursday, May 21.
The fire was reported at around 21.05 WITA at the Serba Guna Building of the Bulungan Regent's Office, Based on the initial chronology, the office guard or PP satpol had carried out routine patrols and checked all rooms around 20.00 WITA.
* At that time, the condition of the building was said to be still safe. After the patrol was completed, the officers returned to the guard post at the entrance to the Bulungan Regent's Office. However, at around 21.25 WITA, a flame appeared on the roof of the Multi-Purpose Tenguyun Room," said Rio.
"Knowing the incident, the officers immediately contacted the Bulungan Regency Fire Service to ask for assistance in extinguishing it," he continued.
Satpol PP officers who were on duty at the location also tried to evacuate vehicles parked behind the building to avoid a wider fire impact.
"However, the fire is said to have quickly grown so that officers did not dare enter the building area," explained Rio.
Then, at around 21.50 WITA, the fire brigade arrived at the location and immediately carried out the extinguishing effort. At least more than 20 units of the combined fleet were deployed in handling the fire.
Apart from the fire trucks from the local government, a number of institutions also deployed assistance fleets, including two units of armored water cannons (AWC) belonging to the North Kalimantan Police, one unit of AWC belonging to Polresta Bulungan, one unit from Korem 092/Maharajalila, and one unit of assistance from Brigif 24/Bulungan Cakti.
