At approximately 5 PM on May 20, 2026, a serious landslide occurred at the Anh Tuan Co., Ltd. quarry in Cam Tu commune, Thanh Hoa province, resulting in the deaths of three workers.
According to initial information, at the time of the incident, the workers, including Lo Van Thoi (born in 1986), Lo Van Quy (born in 1989), and Nguyen Van Ngay (born in 1988), all residing in the former Yen Bai province (now Lao Cai province), were working at the foot of a rocky mountain when a large amount of soil and rocks suddenly slid down from the mountain, burying all three.
That very night, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Cao Van Cuong, along with leaders of the provincial police, relevant agencies, and local authorities, were present at the scene to directly supervise rescue and relief efforts. Numerous forces, vehicles, and specialized equipment were mobilized to urgently search for the missing victims.
Directing operations at the scene, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Cao Van Cuong requested that all forces concentrate maximum manpower, vehicles, and specialized equipment to urgently search for missing victims; implement comprehensive professional measures and coordinate closely to accelerate the rescue and relief efforts. At the same time, absolute safety for the forces on duty must be ensured, as the site still poses a potential risk of further landslides.
By this morning, May 21st, authorities had found all three victims. Currently, relevant agencies are continuing to secure the scene and investigate the cause of the incident.
