The nationwide measles outbreak has claimed 11 more children’s lives in the 24 hours till 8am Friday, raising the total death toll to 499 since March 15, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the latest deaths, nine children died from suspected measles infections, while two deaths were confirmed as measles-related.
With the latest fatalities, the total number of deaths linked to the outbreak reached 414 suspected and 85 confirmed cases nationwide.
The DGHS also reported 1,261 new suspected measles cases and 54 newly confirmed infections during the same period.
Since March 15, a total of 60,540 suspected measles cases and 8,329 confirmed cases have been recorded across the country, according to the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the DGHS.
The health authorities said 47,511 suspected measles patients have so far been admitted to hospitals, while 43,411 patients have been discharged after recovery.
Among the latest deaths, cases were reported from Sylhet and Sunamganj districts, the bulletin said.
