At least two dead and several injured after a massive fire breaks out at a pub in Karnataka's Mysuru district on Monday, police said. According to initial information the blaze erupted after a suspected short circuit at Fox den resto bar in Mysuru. The deceased have been identified as Shahil and Prakash working at the resto bar.
According to police, 2 poeople died in the incident and around six have sustained minor injuries, inculuding the owner. 25 people were present inside the pub at the time of the accident. An electric short circuit is the cause of the fire. The bar had put up a selfie led booth. And there was also grass material. That caught fire which spread to the entire place. People inside heard a blast sound.
Ranganath, Divisonal Officer, Fire and emergency service said that they received the call around 3:15 pm and fire fighters were rushed to spot with three vehicle.
"We got a call around 3:15pm and our officials arrived here in three vehicles and saw fire at rooftop bar and restaurant. To protect themselves from the fire the customers were standing at the edge of the building. We had two aluminium ladders and saved 15 individuals and sent them to hospital, they had sustained minor injuries. All those individuals are safe, " he said.
"When we doused the fire and went inside, we saw two individuals who were working at the resto bar dead. We shifted them to hospital. It looks like a short circuit has caused fire, we are still investigating it. The resto bar had used grass and wood material for decoration, hence the fire has spread rapidly. There was only one exit staircase and was blocked due to fire caught there as well and the customers couldn’t exit from there. We reached there on time and rescued them, " Ranganath further added.
Investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
