Address/Affected area(s)

Yarnell (Mina Fire), Yavapai County, Arizona

The Mina Fire that started near Yarnell northwest of the Valley on Saturday warranted evacuations, authorities said.
Zones 2408, 2411 and 2414 saw their statuses rolled back from “GO” to “SET” status on the state’s emergency alert system around 4:40 p.m., signaling there was still significant danger in the area, but not as imminently life-threatening as before.
Forward progress was stopped with the fire initially mapped at 30 acres. After the evening’s operations, the fire spanned 24 acres and was 70% contained, according to DFFM.
Both directions of SR 89 were closed at milepost 275 as the response began, but the Arizona Department of Transportation has since reopened the highway.
DFFM first reported the blaze, the cause of which has not been determined, shortly after 2 p.m.
Responding personnel included three Type 2 hand crews, one dozer and a taskforce that included five engines and a water tender.
The blaze started as crews are also fighting the Pocket Fire near Sedona, which has grown to more than 25,000 acres, as of Saturday morning.
