25 hectares of vegetation were completely burned on Sunday in a fire that broke out at the intersection of Traian Boulevard and Grenoble Street in Chisinau. The flames were extinguished by firefighters after more than four hours.
Requested by IPN, the press officer of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, Liliana Puscaau, stated that the call to the 112 Service was received at 12:57 PM. Six firefighter and rescue teams were dispatched to the scene and managed to localize the fire around 04:05 PM and completely extinguish it over an hour later. The cause of the fire outbreak is yet to be determined.
The Yellow Code for fire hazard is valid throughout the country until August 21. The population is urged to avoid lighting fires near cereal fields, forests, forest strips and areas with dry vegetation. Also, burning dry vegetation, branches and household waste is prohibited.
