Four men stabbed, four men shot.Following on from our story yesterday about four men being stabbed in Sacavém, Loures (Lisbon outskirts), following disagreements in a café, explosions of violence continued in the Greater Lisbon area, with a further four men being shot in various parts of their bodies, including, in one instance, the head.Rounding all the stories up, at a point where violence and crime in and around the capital has come into sharp focus, Correio da Manhã tabloid stresses that all the incidents are being investigated.
In the case of the stabbings, the suspect remains ‘at large’, albeit police know who they are dealing with.In the case of the first shooting, in Bairro do Talude Militar, also in Loures – and a problematic neighbourhood – it is still unclear who fired the shots that hit a 30-year-old man in the leg and the arm. CM says the man was transported to hospital ‘by friends’ and is believed to remain in a serious condition.A few hours later, a ‘party’, in Rua do Cabo Verde, Lisbon, saw a man shot in the leg. He too appears to have been taken to hospital by means other than an ambulance. Police are said to have found a car in an adjacent street with a couple of bullet holes.
Then, shortly after 8am yesterday morning, two young men (aged 23 and 26) ‘entered Amadora-Sintra Hospital’ with various bullet wounds, to the head, back and upper body. Neither were seriously hurt, the paper adds. They were hit “during disorder in Cova da Moura, Amadora”.The various locations mentioned in this text are well known for ‘disorder’ – Cova da Moura, particularly.
