Motorists in KwaZulu-Natal face difficult driving conditions on Friday as severe weather affects parts of the province.
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued a Yellow Level 4 warning, while eThekwini Municipality placed its Disaster Management and emergency services teams on high alert.
SAWS expects average speeds of between 30km/h and 40km/h, with gusts reaching up to 90km/h along the coast and inland.

Motorists urged to take care
Strong crosswinds could make driving difficult, particularly for high-sided vehicles.
Fallen trees and debris may also obstruct roads, while damaged infrastructure and power lines could create additional hazards.
Motorists should reduce their speed, increase following distances and remain alert to sudden changes in road conditions.
In an interview, SAWS forecaster Masego Nhlapo said that an upper cut-off low, combined with a low-pressure system and ridging high pressure, was driving the unstable weather.

Severe thunderstorms threaten southern KZN
SAWS also issued a Yellow Level 4 warning for severe thunderstorms over southern parts of KwaZulu-Natal.
The warning covers areas south of Underberg and Pietermaritzburg.
Heavy downpours could flood roads and low-lying areas, while lightning could damage property and infrastructure.
Authorities have urged residents not to cross flooded roads, bridges or fast-flowing streams.

Rough seas expected along the coast
Conditions will also deteriorate along the KwaZulu-Natal coastline, where SAWS issued a Yellow Level 2 warning for damaging waves.
Another report suggests that waves could reach between four and five metres from Port Edward to Kosi Bay.
Rough seas could disrupt small harbours and make navigation difficult for vessels.
eThekwini Municipality said emergency teams would continue monitoring conditions and respond to weather-related incidents.
