One person has passed away after a work accident in Zwaag, police have reported. At least two people came into contact with a dangerous substance on an industrial estate; another person was severely injured and is being treated at the hospital.
The labor inspectorate is investigating the incident by collecting camera footage and witness statements. They are also checking to see whether the accident was a human error.
A spokesperson for the inspectorate does not yet know what exactly happened and what the substance is. But it has been revealed by the safety region that it is not harmful to the nearby area.
Emergency services received a report about an accident on De Corentijn in Zwaag, Noord-Holland at 9:45 a.m. Several trauma helicopters were dispatched to the location.
Two people became unwell, and emergency services needed to resuscitate them. The fire department had closed off the area, but it is now free to access again. The nearby buildings are also free to access again.
A spokesperson for the safety region has stated that the incident occurred at a coating company.
