Volcanic ash from the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau has reached most of the Tangerang City, Banten area. The ash spread was even observed up to Karang Tengah, an area bordering Jakarta.
Head of the Tangerang City BPBD, Mahdiar, said that the ash spread continued to expand since Mount Anak Krakatau erupted on Friday, September 4, evening.
"This morning's report, the ash has reached the Karang Tengah area. This means that most of it has been affected, so the area borders Jakarta," said Mahdiar, quoted from Antara, Sunday, September 6.
The Tangerang City BPBD continues to monitor the development of the ash spread and coordinates with a number of parties, including the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency or BMKG.
Based on information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation or PVMBG, the Volcanic Ash Advisory Center or VAAC Darwin, and Himawari-9 satellite image analysis, there were two groups of Anak Krakatau volcanic ash spread on September 5 at 21.00 WIB.
Abu from the surface to a height of 20,000 feet was observed moving southeast and south. The spread includes parts of Banten, West Java, and surrounding waters.
Meanwhile, the ash from the surface to a height of 50,000 feet moves southwest to northwest. The covered areas include parts of Banten, Lampung, Bengkulu, West Sumatra, the southern Sunda Strait, and the Indian Ocean west of Lampung and Banten.

The head of the Anak Krakatau Volcano Monitoring Post, Deni Mardiono, previously said that the thin ash rain due to the eruption had also begun to reach the coastal land of Banten. Volcanic material carried by the wind moving east towards the Banten coast.
Mount Anak Krakatau is still at Level III or Alert status.
"The public or tourists must not approach within a three-kilometer radius of the crater," said Deni.
