German police said Monday that they have found nine more homemade explosive devices near high-voltage power lines in the eastern state of Saxony, bringing the total number to 21.
The devices were found near high-voltage transmission lines at several locations, and were believed to be intended to damage the power network by triggering short circuits, authorities said, adding that the devices had all been defused.
Investigations into the incidents were underway, they said.
A series of suspected sabotage attempts on power infrastructure were reported in several German states last week, including Brandenburg and North Rhine-Westphalia. Police believed the incidents were linked and suspected that a 48-year-old climate extremist was behind them.
