Three adults and a juvenile were shot outside a home in Dayton, Ohio, according to police. Another juvenile was injured by broken glass.
The shooting happened on Tuesday afternoon in the 900 block of Westwood Avenue in Dayton’s Westwood neighborhood, on the city’s west side, according to the Dayton Police Department. Sgt. Creigee S. Coleman said that the victims were on the front porch of a home when shots were fired.
Witnesses reported that two vehicles passed by and that gunfire may have come from both, according to Coleman. Bullets also struck the house and a vehicle.
The official said three adults and one juvenile suffered gunshot wounds, while another juvenile was struck by shrapnel. All five victims were taken to the hospital in stable condition.
The motive and the number of people involved in the shooting were not immediately clear. Police said in an update that the shooting appears to be connected to another incident earlier in the day.
There was no immediate word on the identity of any suspects or whether anyone had been arrested.
“This shooting happened in broad daylight. We just cannot have that. We cannot have this type of activity,” Coleman said. “We cannot have a person, one person, getting shot in our city.”
Coleman asked anyone who witnessed the shooting or has information to contact Dayton police or the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center.
