Seven people were killed in a traffic accident involving a car and a semi-trailer truck early Tuesday in Longli County, southwest China's Guizhou Province, local authorities said.
The accident occurred at 1:42 a.m. when the car carrying seven people, though designed for five, rear-ended the truck parked on the side of Longxi Avenue in the county. All seven people in the car, including the driver, were killed, according to the county's public security bureau.
A preliminary test showed that the 19-year-old driver, surnamed Wang, had a blood alcohol content of 66 mg per 100 ml at the time of the accident, indicating he was driving under the influence of alcohol.
Police, emergency and medical personnel were dispatched to the scene immediately after the accident was reported. Further investigation and aftermath handling are underway.
