A fire broke out at the landfill on the outskirts of Bishkek on the night of September 28 to 29, as reported by Daiyrbek Orunbekov, head of the information policy service of the President's administration of Kyrgyzstan. The solid waste landfill has long been one of the most serious environmental problems in the capital, causing smoke and pollution in the surrounding area when garbage ignites.
In recent years, the situation at the landfill has improved: efforts have been made to extinguish fires, the surface has been covered with soil, and trees have been planted in the area. A modern waste processing and electricity generation plant has also been built. However, on the evening before, a fire broke out again in the closed and greened part of the landfill. City authorities report that unknown individuals brought car tires and set them on fire in several places. The fire was completely extinguished around two o'clock in the morning.
In connection with the incident, questions arise about the possible motives behind such actions. Some social media users speculate about intentional sabotage, questioning the information that the landfill was safe. The situation has attracted public attention, which could lead to the spread of panic and discontent.
Orunbekov urged citizens to avoid provocations that could damage state and public property. He reminded that key political events, such as presidential elections, are approaching in the country, and during this period it is important to be vigilant against possible provocations.
Law enforcement agencies have launched an investigation into the incident. It is expected that as a result of the investigative actions, information will emerge about the individuals involved in organizing the fire and their possible motives.
