A fire tore through several businesses, including a pawn shop, in Jamaica, Queens, early Tuesday morning.
The flames broke out just after 4:30 a.m. inside Tienda Rincon Guatemalteco, a restaurant and bodega on Hillside Avenue near 160th Street.
The fire then spread to the pawn shop's second floor before crews put it out.
Later in the day, owners and workers of at least four businesses -- including a nail salon, a Guatemalan restaurant and bodega and the pawn shop -- watched in disbelief.
Edward Blaze has owned the second-floor pawn shop for the past five years. He was using a neighboring room to launch his political podcast.
"Everybody is safe, but you know just two businesses gone in one shot," Blaze said.
Investigators believe the fire started on the first floor below the pawn shop inside the restaurant and bodega called Tienda Rincon Guatemalteco.
"They've been here for 11 years. I've been here for 50 years. So they've been good neighbors. It does a lot for the community you know," said Ken Bernard.
Bernard owns Sybil's Bakery and Restaurant across the street.
"We pray to God that they rebuild their store," Bernard said.
Other neighbors said they are grateful that no one was injured.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
