Fourteen workers were injured, including two seriously, after a container truck crashed into a vehicle transporting workers in Svay Rieng province today, prompting the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training to immediately intervene and monitor the victims’ health.
The accident occurred at around 6am, along National Road 1 in Ta Sous commune, Svay Chrum district, according to Sun Mesa, spokesperson for the ministry.
Ministry officials, together with teams from the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), were deployed to coordinate assistance and closely monitor the injured workers’ medical conditions.
All 14 injured workers were transported to Svay Chrum Referral Hospital for emergency treatment and medical care. Two sustained serious injuries, while the remaining 12 suffered minor injuries.
According to Mesa, the preliminary cause of the accident was a container truck colliding with the rear of the worker transport bus while both vehicles were travelling in the same direction.
The ministry and relevant teams are continuing to coordinate assistance and follow up on the workers’ health conditions.
