A serious landslide occurred in southern Kyrgyzstan, threatening the safety of residents and infrastructure. According to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, landslide activity is being recorded in the area of the village of Toguz-Bulak in the Kara-Kulja district.
According to specialists from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the length of the crack is 220 meters, and the volume of the shifting mass has reached 42,800 cubic meters, with a movement speed of about 1.1 meters per hour.
The situation is exacerbated by the fact that two residential houses are in the risk zone, a road runs nearby (Yalay-Talaa — Gulcha), and there is also an electrical substation and power line supports.
In response to the emerging threat, local authorities promptly evacuated two families, a total of 11 people, living in the village of Donuz-Oy. Construction of a temporary bypass road has begun at kilometers 22-23 of the Yalay-Talaa — Gulcha highway.
Specialists continue to conduct detailed surveys of the area to determine the causes of the landslide activation and to develop additional safety measures.
