The Israeli occupation forces attacked several fishing boats off the shores of the Gaza Strip and kidnapped nine fishermen in two separate incidents on Tuesday morning, according to the Palestine Information Center.Zakariya Bakr, head of the fishermen’s committees, said that Israeli gunboats chased and opened fire at the fishermen’s boats before kidnapping them.Bakr said that Israeli attacks on fishermen threaten the livelihoods of hundreds of families who depend directly on this profession, further compounding the already deteriorating humanitarian conditions in the besieged Gaza Strip.Bakr also reported the loss of a light float at sea, suggesting it may have been deliberately destroyed by Israeliq gunboats, noting that such actions escalate the risks for local fishermen and deepen their economic losses.[]
