Firefighters battled a large house fire in south Weston on Thanksgiving evening, officials said.
The Georgetown Volunteer Fire Company said in a Facebook post the fire erupted in a house near the intersection of Weston Road and Broad Street. Officials urged people to avoid the area.
Photos shared on social media show a large two-story home engulfed in flames. Officials did not immediately say if anyone was injured in the blaze or what may have sparked the fire.
The Westport Volunteer Emergency Medical Service said in a Facebook post that multiple agencies responded to the fire.
“We are especially thankful for our first responder neighbors in Weston who battled a large house fire this evening near the Westport town line, along with several other mutual aid departments,” officials wrote. “Give thanks for all that you have tonight, and may all of our first responders stay safe so they can return to their families soon.”
Crews remained at the scene late Thursday night as heavy equipment brought down the rest of the home.
