Three people have been seriously injured following a suspected gas explosion. Emergency services were called to a property on Hugh Street, Whitehaven, Cumbria, at 4.23pm on New Years Eve (Tuesday, December 31).Cumbria Police said two men and a woman were taken to hospital with severe injuries. Several animals were rescued and residents evacuated following the incident have be found alternative accommodation as the multi-agency response continues.Cumbria Fire and Rescue, North West Ambulance Service and Northern Gas Networks (NGN) all attended the scene and locals are being advised to steer clear of the area. The community has started fundraisers for those affected and it is reported that at least two properties on the street have completely collapsed.
