The incident reportedly took place near the luxury waterfront area of Dubai Creek Harbour in the early hours of Thursday.Emergency services in Dubai have responded to an incident involving a drone believed to have crashed into a residential building, authorities have confirmed. The incident is understood to have occurred near the upmarket waterfront district of Dubai Creek Harbour during the early hours of Thursday (March 12) local time, prompting an evacuation that officials described as precautionary.Details and photographs of the incident have been released by the Dubai Media Office, which has subsequently confirmed the situation is "fully under control", Daily Star reports.Authorities also confirmed that "all residents" are safe in what is suspected to be the most recent in a series of retaliatory strikes by Iran on the UAE.In multiple posts on X, the Dubai Media Office stated: "Authorities in Dubai are responding to an incident involving a drone that fell on a building in the vicinity of Dubai Creek Harbour."This was followed by: "Authorities are currently carrying out evacuation operations to ensure the safety of everyone in the building."Upon resolution of the incident, officials stated: "Authorities have fully brought the fire under control, and all residents are safe. No injuries have been reported."Dubai and other regions in the Middle East seem to have been singled out by Iran for missile and drone attacks. However, the UAE has largely managed to fend off these assaults with effective air defences, resulting in only "minor damage" reported.
To date, Iran's onslaughts have caused alarm around Dubai International Airport, hotels and the US consulate since reprisals began on February 28 following strikes by US and Israeli forces. The Dubai Media Office previously reported that two Iranian drones struck near Dubai airport, injuring four people, but flights continued as normal.Iran has launched attacks on commercial vessels and targeted airports, intensifying its campaign in the oil-rich Persian Gulf amid growing global energy worries as American and Israeli air strikes continue to hit the Islamic Republic.Iran's reaction to the unexpected Israeli and US bombardment that commenced 12 days ago has disrupted trade routes, hindered the supply of fuel and fertiliser from the Gulf, and jeopardised air traffic through one of the world's busiest regions.
