At least 10 people were killed and around 50 injured after an explosion struck a railway track near Quetta in Pakistan’s Balochistan province.
At least 10 people were killed and around 50 others injured after an explosion struck a railway line in Quetta, according to a report by Al Jazeera.
The blast occurred Sunday in Balochistan province and reportedly targeted the railway track with an improvised explosive device, causing several train carriages to derail.
Pakistani railway officials said rescue and security teams were deployed immediately to the scene, while authorities continue assessing the number of passengers affected and the scale of the damage.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, although similar incidents in Balochistan have frequently been linked to separatist armed groups operating in the region.
Balochistan has witnessed years of insurgency, separatist violence and attacks targeting security forces, infrastructure and transport networks, creating persistent instability in southwestern Pakistan.
Pakistan has recently faced increasing security challenges, including militant attacks and cross-border violence, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces, raising concerns over public safety and regional security.
